F is for Feeling Poorly

Feeling Poorly

Today’s post will be rather brief.  Tuesday, I noticed the usual symptoms of bronchitis.  Not something I welcome.  The searing headache, the back pain between the shoulder blades, and the dry scratchy throat wore me down very quickly.  I went home early from work.

I found some antibiotic, and began taking that.  Unfortunately, it was not working, and I began to feel progressively worse.  I went to the doctor today and had a chest x-ray.  The physician’s assistant who saw me showed me two x-rays.

One had been taken over two years prior, and the other had been taken today.  The first x-ray had shown some infiltrate in my lungs.  I had been admitted to the hospital when that x-ray was done.  The one today showed three times as much infiltrate.  It was no wonder why I was feeling so miserable.  I had pneumonia in both lungs.

She offered me a choice:  I could take a shot of Rocephin and have a sore behind, but go home to my own bed along with a prescription for an oral antibiotic, or they would admit me.  I struggled with that decision.  Ultimately, I decided to try the Rocephin, antibiotic, and my own comfy bed.  I told myself that I could still return to the hospital if I needed to later on.

So far, I have not regretted it.  I’m about ready to head to bed.  I’m doing my breathing treatment as I type.  We’ll see how I feel in the morning.

I’m not the only feeling poorly.  My two pups are very sore from their surgery yesterday.  I feel so badly for them.  Humans are sent home from surgery with pain meds.  Why do they assume dogs have no pain after surgery?   Just doesn’t seem fair.
