Yesterday, I had an appointment with my eye surgeon in Concordia. I'll be having my right eye cataract removed on Sept. 29, and the left eye done on Oct. 13 in Clay Center, Ks. I'll be glad to get those done. It's getting harder to read, write, or see anything through a window or windshield. I have to hold a book on my chest to read. Reading the small print on labels is almost impossible without a magnifying glass. If I let these go, I'll be completely blind in just a few years.
Regan, Matt, and Maliyah are back for the Watermelon Festival. It officially begins tonight, but we won't do anything until tomorrow. We ate lunch at County Divide Cafe in Clifton, Ks. Excellent food!
It was a little loud at first when the lunch crowd were all talking over each other, but as they left gradually it became easier to hear each other. I've really got to find the hearing aids I've had in the past. I think they're buried in my office somewhere. I'll have to dig for them because I'm going deaf faster than I'm going blind. And the tinnitus is getting louder and louder all the time.
Regan is starting a new job. She's making so much more than I ever dreamed of making as an LPN. She starts her RN classes in a couple of weeks. I'm proud of her. She's worked hard to bring herself up from the Regan that went to Colorado back in 2012. Or was it 2013?
She's still got all the body ink and some piercings, but she lost the blue dreads and dresses appropriately now.
We really like her new boyfriend, Matt Strenk. He's a polite, soft spoken, young man who owns his own business. He comes from a Jewish background, but he's not currently practicing his faith. He professes to love our area here in Kansas, but he just bought a new huge house in Littleton, Co. so not much chance he'll want to move here anytime soon.
Tomorrow, I want to go down to the parade and maybe browse the booths on main street. I'm not into the demo derby, but might think about seeing the local entertainment, whatever that is.
Tonight, I'm relaxing and making up birthday cards for my siblings. Sept 10 is my oldest brother's birthday. He is turning 70. My sister has her birthday on Sept. 22, and my younger brother will have his birthday on Oct. 5. Dennis has his birthday on Oct. 1, and my 75th birthday will be Oct. 9. A sister-in-law has her birthday on Nov. 6. That is a bittersweet day for us, as Dennis' dear mom was also born on Nov. 6.
Let me see if I can find a painting to share:
